The Very Rev'd Donald B. Rice

Fr. Rice came to Christ Church in 1993 as Priest Associate to the Rt. Rev. M. Dean Stephens, Bishop of New Orleans.  In 1994 he succeed him as Rector.  

Fr. Rice and his wife of 33 years, Sally, are natives of Ohio.  Since coming to Christ Church, Fr. Rice has been instrumental in assisting the parish to build and prepare our church. He is also very active in Diocesan affairs and has held the positions of Archdeacon and Vicar General of the Diocese as well as serving as the chairman of the Commission on Ministry. Fr. Rice was appointed Dean of the Pro-Cathedral by Archbishop John-Charles

Fr. Rice was ordained in 1967 in the Episcopal Church and has served several parishes in both the Episcopal Church and in the Anglican Catholic Church. Fr. Rice's most recent assignment before Christ Church was as Dean of Holyrood Seminary in Liberty, New York. He held that position for 10 years. 

Concurrent with his early ministry, Fr. Rice was involved in medical research and laboratory administration.

Fr. Rice holds a B.A.'63 from The College of Wooster, a M.S.'76 from Case Western Reserve University and a M.Div. '67 from Virginia Theological Seminary
